Howdy everyone

Now that I am officially done with college, I have a little bit more time to spare with posting videogame music. Well, and I’ll tell ya, I’ve picked up a great deal of game music since my last post.

I occasionally like to theme my posts around certain games, so this time I plan on posting the music of the Dragon Quest series. I recently did a batch purchase of 7-8 soundtracks of the series, so I think I have enough to last me the rest of this summer if I continually post every day.

I’ll try to keep things interesting with some of the posts and see what the track resembles to me in regards to classical music, or just information on the game series/composer. Without further ado, the “Overture March” of our beloved series and summer.

[SFW] A “future-trap” remix of the past, present, and future of The Legend of Zelda.

Working on a paper about the use of this game’s music in regards to development and narrative. It’s a bit of work…but the fun in playing through this game and listening to its soundtrack frequently is well worth it!

If you took part in funding the Cryamore through Kickstarter, one of the perks was a digital download of the album. So far, only an 8-track album was released for download for backers. I’ve soaked in this first release for a while and really love this one track. If you’re a fan of snes games like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past juxtaposed with 8-bit timbres…then you’re going to love the final release of the full album. I already foresee an amazing soundtrack. Here’s a taste of what I mean with this track, “Climb, Lest I Fall.”

“Chrono Jigga” - A Jay-Z/Chrono Trigger Mashup Project by 2 Mello

Ignorant Scene (Jay-Z vs. Chrono Trigger Mashup)

Hello everyone! I’m Scrub Club Records artist 2 Mello and I just wanted to tease my newest project, a full album combining Jay-Z lyrics with Chrono Trigger-sampling hip-hop beats. Here is the first single, a mix of Jay-Z’s “Ignorant Shit” with Chrono Trigger’s “Wind Scene”, on Soundcloud. Thanks for the listen!

Title: A Cheerful Bandit
Disc: 01
Track: 05
Game: Tales of Legendia
Composer: Go Shiina

Again. Tales of Legendia or Tales of Jazz? I’m completely blown away on the quality of the compositions and orchestrations. It’s one thing to have a diverse soundtrack—as most game do—but it’s another to dish out work like this, and keeping it up…

I’m under the impression that the last two I mentioned arranged only a couple of pieces and Go Shiina did the rest himself. If I’m getting that mixed up, correct me on it so I can give credit where it’s do.

Game: Tales of Legendia

Tales of Legendia? More like Tales of Chopin…maybe even Tales of Romantic music. The piano playing and other soothing playing makes me wish that other games had a piano concerto as background music for RPGs. (This track isn’t a piano concerto, but has many pleasant piano inserts.)

Namco, should’ve kept this guy on staff for more than two other “Tales of” games. Of course, the same goes for the arrangers Natsumi Kameoka and Hironori Osone.
